A recent article in the Harvard Business Review speculated on what trends we, as business owners, can expect to be more prevalent, less so, and remain the same with the average consumer as our economy works its way through all the changes we are seeing. As a consumer myself, I found the article on target with how I'm feeling these days. As the one in charge of making sure our company is inline with what consumers are needing and wanting, I had to pause on each trend and see if StoragePlus was on target. At StoragePlus, we understand that our ‘product' really isn't the space but the service behind the space.
Consumers want SIMPLICITY: Time is less and less our own and with so many changes, it's nice to have something simple, something you can count on. StoragePlus made renting storage simple a couple of years back; we eliminated late fees, deposits and administrative fees. We also did away with the first floor / second floor, inside / outside, etc. tiers many of our competitors still insist on doing. A 10x10 is the same price no matter where it is on the facility AND the price you are quoted is the total cost to rent (actually, unless you rent on the 1st of the month, you'll pay less because we pro-rate at move-in). StoragePlus also accepts payments in person, over-the-phone, on the web, auto-bill and we accept cash, check and most credit cards. When moving-out we can prorate, too, with advance notice and we don't require a minimum notice as do our competitors (who knows what life is going to be like 30 days from now?!). Need more units or a bigger unit? How about fewer units or a smaller unit? Come talk to us, move your stuff and any credits transfer over.
THRIFT is IN: Always a good thing and storage is thrifty. At an average of $0.85 a square foot, storage is a very thrifty product for kids (and their stuff) coming or going. Needing space for an elderly parent? Store their stuff and maybe some of yours rather than sell items you really want to keep but don't have the space. Clear out the garage; thrifty by getting items out of harms way and protecting the finish on your car now that you can park there again, not to mention the simplicity of being able to open the doors all the way to get groceries out without standing in the rain, snow, or blistering heat! If you're a business owner, you know the cost of square footage; give your employees the space to focus on growing your business and the daily challenges.
TRANSPARENCY is expected: We all expect companies to be honest and ethical. StoragePlus is run with the utmost expectations of all team members. I will be the first to admit that we are not perfect and we do make mistakes, but we use these opportunities to learn, grow and improve.
